Since I'm not feeling well enough to work, yet not sick enough to stay in bed and bum around, I started working on a new area, part of the riverside road along the Silverstrand (does that name sound strange in English? ).
Of COURSE I had to do another tree-intensive area, and of COURSE it had to be right when I foolishly installed the new patch, thus rendering all the nifty plugins useless so I had to place each and every tree by hand...
(I'm roughly at 25% re-seeding those §$"&$"%"§!§"% things)
Best of all, I'm not even sure this one will work for Rhydin - it runs just fine on my machine, yet I fear on lower systems this might be quite laggy. Lots of trees, lots of sounds and a hell lot of grass (cattail all over the river and tall grass around most of the trees - they just look really weird without the grass).
But, hey - it's less laggy than West Harbor during the fair...

Yay... though this might sound a bit masochistic, I'm actually glad I had to re-seed those trees by hand... it took a while, but at least I could bend them to look a bit more like what I had in mind when I started this whole mess!
Ah, well... it's back to bed for me - once you realize your skin's more pale than the (white) chinaware you're drinking your tea from, it's definitely time to stop fooling around... _________________ Stay back! I've got a lute and will not hesitate to USE it! |

I really messed with the seed numbers and it really didn't seem to change my trees much. Care to enlighten on how exactly it works? _________________ "Ye shalt burn." - The Doom God, year 040. |

Beautiful work Nathraiben, as always. I can definitely use that area too. There alot of huge rivers that go through the heart of Rhydin. Theres actually a tale about that particular geography. How the rivers resemble the face of a fallen goddess. As long as you dont use more then 5 types of trees. Its good.

Try using small numbers first like 1, then 2, then 3... the tree itself won't look that different. Its just the branches that get moved around. So that in the bigger picture, they have more of a random growth. And when you use the scaling feature, it really helps them look different. _________________ - Sorceress Ashura.

It also depends on the tree how much the random seed will modify your trees.
(I used 4 different kinds of trees, and while the seed had quite a huge impact on the other 3, the changes to the angelica tree were rather subtle)
To get the best results, I just simply started with a random one-digit number and randomly added more digits until I got a shape I liked (roughly - just as Sorceress said, you can later fine-tune things by scaling your trees).

Sounds like "Silverstrand" was quite the fitting name, then?
Btw: I couldn't resist, I just HAD to make them useable...
