Hi, yes, hello! I've been flitting round the rhydin blogs and I haven't introduced myself! I wade in and don't actually keep to my strengths. Anyway, I'm Zodiac knight and I'm trying to help where I can
I love lore, drawing up concepts etc. Don't ever get me to build areas I cannot commit to them!... I can help out with blueprints for items, storylines, descriptions, puzzle concepts. (nope no scripting either. I get all Confuzzled) I actually came to happen across this nice shiny website by a very Helpful billboard effects tutorial. (Thanks Sorceress Ashura!) I'm glad I can pour my ideas into the melting pot and fingers crossed, they help make Rhydin a better place. Ashura, Nathraiben, Iskatu Mesk, Forlorn, Sproutly, everyone......Hi! _________________ 'By Tyr's right buttock' -Khelgar Ironfist |

Its good to see an enthusiastic member join the forums. The members here fade in and out as time goes by. Adding thier thoughts, and opinions which I do take to heart. Rhydin ...it seems the closer I get to it, the further it eludes me. But I know my hard work will pay off when it does finally launch. I just hope the lot of you are still around when it does. =) _________________ - Sorceress Ashura.

Good things come to those who wait yeah? I was wondering aswell, could I maybe join the beta testing? I might not notice all the bugs but I can help iron out some things, like story flow, conversations, spelling etc. Anywho.....I notice you sometimes say about low publicity and population on this website. I also know that you wanted to make a particularly big splash when it's released. (No sneaky previews was the impression I got ) But could it keep up interest by releasing a little trailer of the gameplay, short, mysterious and leaving people thirsty for more. The trouble is how that would be pulled off. Or ads might do it. Nathraiben did a beautiful job with that picture for your VFX pack. These are just ideas I'm throwing in as an example, you're the figurehead of this project. _________________ 'By Tyr's right buttock' -Khelgar Ironfist |

Thats a pretty good idea, using trailers. I wanted to make some sort of music montage that showed everything I was working on, but I couldn't really find a program that would record my computer screen. I tried Fraps, but thier freeware version only gives about 15-30 secs worth of footage... Which is pretty pointless. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. _________________ - Sorceress Ashura.

If you make a trailer, those 15 seconds should be more than enough - just take a couple of short (around 3-5 seconds) videos, add some still images with text and stylish music, and then blend everything together into the teaser/trailer. Rinse and repeat.
(And I fear I'm more fading out than in at the moment - lots of projects and business trips eating away on what little spare time I still had left. ) _________________ Stay back! I've got a lute and will not hesitate to USE it! |

Music. Now that's a difficulty. Did you want something original, copied from somewhere else? ( I have tons of Final fantasy tracks, it works wonders for helping me create mods!) What mood would it be? Personally I would like something that maybe showcased some new VFX, The spiritworld and some fantastic scenery. I would really love it if Rhydin had plenty of puzzles and unusual quests rather than run of the mill kill everything in sight. I did have one puzzle in mind actually ( This is going off the current subject now ) A year back I created seven gems each named "colourless gem" Their descriptions placed them in the colours of the rainbow and the player had to work out each riddle and place te gems on pedestals in the corresponding order. Is that confusing? I wish I hadn't taken NWN 1 off my computer now, Ahh well, can't change that now. Back on subject, Those few seconds would be like Nathraiben said, plenty. I think that you should show as many elements of the game as you can, the things that would tell someone that they won't expierience another game like it. To sum it up, it must be visually stunning. Anyway, I've got bout a week before I'll be busy again so I'm gonna make the most of it. Hope I've helped with some of my ideas. _________________ 'By Tyr's right buttock' -Khelgar Ironfist

Eh, final fantasy is way overused. Use something a lot less mainstream. It creates more of an impact. _________________ "Ye shalt burn." - The Doom God, year 040. |

I agree, But what do you use? Maybe this is your chance to come back to music making? I am definitely not an expert in trailer making, or music composition. What do you have in mind Ashura? Oh and by the way, if there's a voice-over in the trailer, please, please, please under no circumstances whatsoever use those deep forboding movie trailer voices.
"This summer, one man will find his destiny..." I dunno what it is but I don't like em! (Dunno what everyone else thinks though)/ Oh I had another idea about commentaries. Like everyone who actually made something glaringly obvious in Rhydin, areas etc. then maybe there's a commentary that's sort of hidden in Rhydin to aknowledge all of us. I put a post up "Behind Rhydin's beauty?" I think Iskatu already replied on that one? _________________ 'By Tyr's right buttock' -Khelgar Ironfist |

Unfortunately I do not compose anymore or I gladly would for this project. My skills as a composer never improved and to boot my folks decided it would be wise to keep blowing out the house's power with a 2000 watt jet washer and the computer with the $300 GSIF-compliant sound card is toast and so I cannot even run the composing program anymore let alone make music on it.
I am sorry.
As for what do I use in mods, it depends. I steer clear of the traditional big orchestra space opera stuff for my futuristic things and I tend to use a lot of traditional folk bulgarian/japanese stuff as well as more rare game soundtracks, such as John Debney's Lair soundtrack which is nothing short of brilliant. I have many exceedingly difficult to obtain gamerips and other such things which you'll never find in mainstrain. I always get comments for my exceptional music selections.
Also what I've released is all I have made I think... I can overview what is on the forums and what I recovered from the dreaded D drive crash later on to see.
