Its not like I ever left, but my absence in posts sure does mean something. I apologize, regardless. Oh how I wish this stuff was done already. It's like I get into these binges where all I do is nothing but work for the PW and then I'll set it aside to chase other interests. Then when I want to return, I forget where I last left off, and work on new things that take the old's place. Or something will happen that will destory all my old work. Like a virus, or corrupted file. Well, I've finally got a fix for losing my previous work, and thats a 2gb memory stick. Curtesy of PSP X2. I've put alot of work on to it, in hopes that I'll never lose progress again. But then again, that small dinky lil thing could get lost itself.. Hrm... (Mental Note: Make memory stick into necklace.)

Anywho, I'm glad to back in the thick of all this work again. I do hope you guys are still around. With the new updates to NWN2 that has been just released. IE: Stand Alone Server, and Script Functions. Obsidian has made it easier for players to download files needed for PW play. Which has cut some work for me, which is good. I know I've set dates of launches in the past that have come and gone... Your patience will be rewarded. That I can garuantee. As before I can't promise anything, but I think the first week of January would be a good new launch date. After New Years. Its just got to a point, where I don't know what else to put into the PW,... so it might just be a good idea to post it, and hope for the best.

Much Love,

Nath reporting for duty! Wink

Can't wait for January then. I still won't have time to play (I don't even remember how many years it has been since I last was able to play ANYTHING Sad), but I'll definitely have to excavate my old NWN2 disk in order to wander Rhydin from time to time... Smile

BTW, is that one of those super cute mini sticks the size of one's thumbnail?

Nathraiben,

I'm glad to see you! I seen Iskatu float around on MSN messenger, which are times I can't really reply since I'm at work. I hope he knows I'm not ignoring him.lol And no the memory stick I have is a small rectangular thingamabob. No bigger than the size of my finger. I've been making a few appearances on others PWs just to see how stable the game runs. It wasn't very bad, not as horrible as it use to be. I'm not sure if thats becuase of my semi-new computer. Or if the game's bugs are starting to get worked out. I didn't crash at all with transitions, the only thing I really noticed was the lag from encounters getting triggered. Which in my opinion should never be used in a pw. I think my custom spawn script handles much better. But they're still alot of nice ones.

And I'm not sure who said it here, but I remember someone making something very clear to me.  That there were 2 kinds of PWs out there. Ones that were very detailed and took the longest, and others that look shitty but are up faster. I took that to heart, and I've tried apply that constructively. In Rhydin you'll noticed there isn't alot of clutter like some Pws out there. With lots of environment objects everywhere. I tried to keep a nice balance between objects that have a purpose for being there, and needless clutter. I know I have a habit of being symeterical too in my designs..  I've been trying to go more random, and failing miserably. lol

Oh! Oh! Forgot to add, I'll be uploading new screen shots very soon!

Now, that sounds rather promising. I have to admit, I'm a bit curious as to what changes have been made to the game since I last played it (like an eternity or two ago).

But, good news - I found both the main DVD and MotB, and after turning my old home upside down I even managed to finally get my hands on the booklets (and thus the registration keys Very Happy). As soon as I get home (I moved in February, so my computer's about 800 miles away right now), I'll have to get it up and running.

Looking forward to the screens - with the old ones so far all I can say is you're doing perfectly well with the clutter balance.

Btw, talking about clutter and performance - another advantage of taking your time is that by now everybody should have had the chance to get themselves computers that run the game smoothly, so I would say you no longer really have to cut down on details because of performance issues, only in order to not make the maps look too cluttered.

Thats wonderful Nathraiben! You'll also need Storm of Zehir too, since Rhydin's long distance travel will be handled through the Overland maps. I've been getting inspired visually by alot of movies out there. Most recently, "The Last Legion" They've got some beautiful scenery in there, that would be a perfect fit for how I've sculpted Rhydin's fields. If you get a chance to see it, you'll notice alot of similarities. I've started working on customized items. Nothing to extravagant, but definitely required. With rhydin's craft system I want to emphasize that through crafting you can create better items than what you may find. There will be a few pieces that are rare that will be given out as rewards but I think the craft system is just more fun. lol

Oh, look - an expansion I didn't know about... Very Happy

Shows you how much time I lately had to keep informed about one of my all-time favourite games...

Just out of curiosity - not that I had the time to play it Razz - is the story and quality worthy of the original game and the first expansion, or is it only good for the added content?

But this whole overland map topic seems incredibly nice. By far better than the overland haks I remember.

Storm of Zehir.... is it worth it... That's a good question. In my opinion, its only good for the new content it provides. The story ,.. while unique,... doesn't really do it for me. I gave a review for the release here on these forums, you can see it here: http://rhydinplanesreborn.myfastforum.org/about151.html.

The voice acting for SoZ was below poor quality. It was as if they took people off the streets. Handed them a script and put them infront of a microphone. The whole story was centered around merchant businesses, and setting up your own. They had a few subplots that were kind of interesting, but as I said before with such poor voice overs, it was hard to get immersed into it. SoZ gave us alot of new placables, items, 2 new classes, and 2 new races. So It wasn't all a wash. As said before, Storm of Zehir should be recongnized for it's content, not it's story. I only speak for myself though, becuase I know some people like that kind of stuff. Business and trading..etc.
