.haks and .erfsHello!
I have been using SA's awesome effects pack for many different things in our upcoming pw! It is great to see you are all working on a pw of your own. It sounds great from what I've read so far. If I see anything our team has come across that can help, I'll be sure to post.
I wanted to mention a couple things about the .hak pack included with SA's files. I tried to implement it into my client (using toolset version 1.0.86 (patch 1.04)) and had no luck getting it to work.
Sadly because this happened the last time, I had to rebuild the .2da files. Now it seems I'll have to do to the same again. Luckily I saved it in .txt file so I can cut and paste. =) Just a guess, would the hak pack require the same file tree (properly placed, embedded folders) as the original files for them to work? I'm just wondering why the mystery of .hak packs hasn't been totally solved.

Now, that's really strange - 1.04 seems to be quite undecided whether to be useful or totally screw your system. It renders your haks useless, crashes Mesk's toolset and at the same time solved my hak problems and left my game to be as stable as any program can get.
Hm, but since it works with my 1.04, it should not be (intentionally) the file tree (I also use a hak I made myself, and that one doesn't even have any folders at all).
Also, if haks work anything like they did back in NWN1, Obsidian's code is totally screwed, when it permanently messes up your .2da - did you try uninstalling and patching only up to 1.03? If it works in 1.03, you could wait for 1.05 (they promised, many of the 1.04 bugs should be fixed by 1.05).

They'd better fix these bugs... they're getting as bad as Blizzard at this rate.

Gnok,
I'm sorry to hear of your issues with the hak file... I've re-made it after the 1.04 patch.. On my end things work like they're suppose too.. but I've been hearing alot of problems arise not only on the many forums, but from my own members here at Rhydin Reborn. Times like these when a great game is released to soon... We all end up wishing they pushed back the release until all bugs and content was at 100%. I just hope Obsidian Entertainment hears our pleas, and are working to fix the problems.

On a good note!Well, the good news is that importing the .erf files worked great! That's how I'm getting everything into our 5 mods now. By importing .erfs and throwing new .2da lists in the override, I'm avoiding any tinkering with the default toolset files. I'm also leaving haks alone until I hear more information. Actually, with everything properly imported into the module, it's even easier because imo, the less things in other folders the better.
In other news, I grafted my real-life face from a photo to my character in the game. Fun stuff. We have a lot of plans to use this in-game to feature a few real-life renaissance fair groups with their real-life faces. Also, the champion of our arena will have a complimentary face importation. I haven't heard of anyone doing this before. Hopefully it will be a novelty that will pull some people in to play. I also figured out .dds textures pretty well and can make any in-game terrain or model texture from a photograph or a desired look in photoshop. If any of you need custom work, let me know!

PS come by our dev forum and check out the different faces I posted.
