News concerning the VFX Pack 3.0 release. [Updated.]Hello everyone, I just wanted to make a minor announcement about the up and coming VFX Pack 3.0 that I plan to release this February 14th, 2007. I haven't been able to work birds into the vfx editor yet. Everything I've tried just doesn't seem to work. So again I'll have to push it till the next release. However, on the brightside I have been able to add so many different visual effects. While at the same time, updating the old ones, and putting different versions of the effects into the pack. There will be alot of Player Effects, that will only appear when attached to characters. (These files are the gift vfx that will be used in the Rhydin Planes. See the rules section of the forum for screen shots.) I've also added more Alterglows, and ambience vfxs. Such as bubbles in the water, water rapids, wind gusts, theater spotlights, and swarming insects.
A new addition of the pack will also be added as a separate .erf file. That erf will be new spell graphics from the magic in NWN2. When I saw the vfx for spells in NWN2, I was really impressed. However, there were some spells that looked identical to others. There were also some spells, that didn't fit the image I envisioned them to appear as. Instant gratification may be okay for the ADD players, but for players like me.. who LOVE to display graceful power... The standard effects just didn't work for me. As a part of this post, I am putting together a list of the spell graphics that I plan to change here. If there are any spells that you know of in particular from NWN2 that you'd like to be changed. Post a reply here, and I will add it to the list. I will also provide before/after screenshots of each spell.
List of Altered Spell Graphics.
1. Ressurection.
Old Version:  "Wham, bam, thank you... mam? I think.."
New Version:
 "A light from the heavens shed upon the fallen hero.. His soul coming into reality.."
 "The soul of the hero descends from above, gazing upon his lifeless corpse..."
 "The hero is bathed by the light, as his soul rejoins his body."
2. Ice Storm.
3. Implosion.
4. Nature Buff Spells [Bull's Strength, Fox's Cunning, etc]
5. Mage Armor.
6. Protect from Alignment.
7. Wail of the Banshee.
Old Version:
 "Nice.. but for a 9th level spell, looks pretty weak."
New Version:
 "Side view, now that's dazzling.."
 "Top View, the shock waves will continue to disperse."
8. Storm of Vengence.
9. Magic Conjures [The effects that appear when you start to cast.]
10. Magic vs Circle.
Old Version:
 "...That's it...? What a rip off!"
New Version:
 " Oooh... sparklies!"

Nope, unfortunately not. I've been getting alot of help from community members though. Hopefully as time progresses, I'll be able to crack the issue... But until then... Let us keep up with the wishful thinking. Hehe
