"Come and listin to this yarn i would spin for you", chimed the bard as a crowed in the inn gathered about.

"many years ago in a land not unlike the one we have here there was a terrible thief.  so terrible was his deeds that all feared him and none had any property that they felt he could not walk away with.  so great was his reputation that a farmer once claimed that the thief stole his cow while he was milking her!".  stated the bard amidst many laughs and chuckles.  With a more serious note the bard began the rest of the story.

"one night while the thief was out earning his living, so to speak, a terrible dragon swooped down on the village.  the village never had issues with dragons before and had never seen such a force of nature.  our thief was a good thief but he wasnt the brightest.  he decided to try to track the dragon as best he could in hopes of stealing the dragons hoard from beneath its nose!". the bard continued as the crowed drew in to hear more closely what he was saying.

"the thief decided to go it alone.  He knew a large group would draw more attention than what was wanted.  for a good while he tried to track the dragon.  one day his efforts paid off.  after traveling though a few villages and tracking where the dragon had been he came across a town that was very familure with the dragon.  tales filled his ears of the wealth the dragon had amassed.  stories and maps filled his wildest dreams of how to get there.  only one thing came between him and his destiny.  could he actually steal from a dragon?".  the crowd hung on his every word.

"the answer is!!!...   ...  OF COURSE NOT!"  stated the bard emphatically as the crowd erupted in laughter.  "the poor young fellow found the den, found the gold, and found his death.  You never mess with a dragon!".  the crowd continued to laugh at the thiefs bad choice.  then the bard motioned with his hands to calm the crowd.  "But you see, that is not the end of the story.  The thief was not the only one out to find this dragon.  There was a group of villagers who wanted it dead.  It had terrified their home for far to long.  The villagers teamed up with a hand full of adventurers and followed closely behind the thief.  Perhaps the thief would of made it had it not been for their clumsy nature.  The dragon fell upon them and went about to thrash all of them for their insolence.  Just then a spark of hope was lit from a hand full of the adventurers.  Now, to be honest, these were not the brightest lot, but they were good in their arts of combat.  They were able to mortally wound the dragon before all of them had fallen.  The dragon retreated to its cave and its treasure to die.  The story goes that to this day its very bones lay over its gold trying to protect it still.  The story also goes that all the maps had disappeared as well, no thanks to the thief who stole them from those who had them.  The legend goes that if you can find the thiefs remains, you will find the map to untold wealth!".  so ended the bards tale as a number of young ones looked coyly at one another.  surely its just a tale and nothing more.  or was it?

Ooh very nice, and great plot twists there. Thats the kind of detail that grabs players attention. Already I'm beginning to think of a quest line following this story. If you can, could you write in conversation form this story? Perhaps an item book, with a few rhymes, or songs about this Dragon, and thief?
