While exploring the lands of Rhydin i happend across the body of a long dead adventurer.  He carried a sword which seemed of great value making me to wonder who this person had been.  I searched the body and soon found a journal that would be the heart break of any man.

He was once a well known man at arms.  A more trust worthy man no other could find.  A stalwart servent to be certain.  He served his role and kept his lord safe from all who would assail him.  But who would protect him?

A time of troubles came upon him quickly.  A joyous day ruined by treachery and wickedness never wished on another.  As i read the journal it was almost as if he was speaking to me.  Asking me to help him.  The day of his marriage so long ago a wicked wizard came against the lord he served.  As they were sharing their vows, shrieks arose in agony.  Far to quickly she was ripped from him and from that time on he sought out the one who had done such a thing.

He hunted and sought to destroy he who had already killed so much of him.  But he was in far worse peril than he had known.  One late cold night he found his prey.  As he brandished his sword and charged he realized one terrible truth.  His prey had a defender.  This pale master had raised an undead force to defend him against all who would asail him.

He gazed face to face with what would have been once his wife.  In shock and despair he was unable to fight against the undead beast.  He quickly fell to the undead horde but far more likely he died from far to much heart ache.

'Till this very day I still hear his spirit calling to me, "put my beloved to rest.  avenge her for me".

Oh wow, thats amazing. Another pearl of intrique you've given us here. I love the concept of the story, and I can see making lots of "old journals" and books all pointing to various clues of this story would make players want to find the next clue. Until they've virtually unraveled every corner of this particular lore, then some how appling it to their life.  Keep it up Sproutly, your doing great.

the idea of picking up journal pieces here and there would probably be the best way to unfold the story.

i also have givin some thought to maybe a traveling bard who would help to spread part of the story.  and maybe when pressed about the story he says its a tale he heard as a kid and it probably was only ment to scare him into being a good child.  as parts of the journal come together perhaps the bard could share more insight as well.

i like the idea of maybe a bard being one of the story drivers in a PW.  an NPC in every way but has a huge impact on many things.  that would take alot of character development but could well be worth it.

Actually, when you mention a bard there was a couple that I had in NWN1 pw of Rhydin. A half-elf by the name of Aric Moonshire, who was very diverse in all cultures. He hailed from the everglades, and had a deep sense of style. Then there was Sorcelina, human, and a talented singer, but vain in her beauty. I did want to continue thier presence,..
